Three men die in Meerut after suspected liquor consumption; probe initiated
Three men died after allegedly consuming liquor in Meerut’s Daurala area on Friday evening, with police launching a probe as the exact cause of death remains unclear.

The Daurala police station in Meerut received information from Aryavart Hospital that three persons had been brought there in an unconscious condition after consuming alcohol. Acting on the alert, the station in-charge along with a police team rushed to the hospital, where all three men died during treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Baburam (60), Jitendra (45), and Ankit alias Daulat (32).
Police said doctors have not yet confirmed the cause of death. “The exact cause of death is not clear at this stage. Postmortem examination is being conducted and viscera has been preserved for forensic analysis,” the police said in an official statement.
The preserved samples will be sent to a forensic laboratory to determine whether any toxic or poisonous substance was involved.
Senior police officers, along with local police and a forensic team, inspected both the hospital and the suspected spot linked to the incident. Samples of all suspicious material found at the scene have been collected for scientific examination.
In view of the seriousness of the case, four police teams have been constituted to investigate all possible causes behind the deaths. The surveillance unit and confidential branch have also been tasked with assisting the probe.
Officials said all angles, including suspected spurious liquor and any other possible toxic substance, are being examined.
The incident triggered tension in the area after the deaths were reported, prompting senior administrative and police officers to visit the spot.
Police said further action will be taken on the basis of the postmortem findings and the forensic laboratory report.
